Obituary for Myrna Marilyn Hoffman (Weinberg)

Myrna M. (nee Weinberg) Hoffman, 80, of Brielle passed away unexpectedly Friday, November 30, 2018 in her loving family home. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she had resided in Lake Hiawatha and moved to Brielle in 1978.


She was predeceased by her parents Sheldon and Sara (nee Walman) Weinberg, her beloved husband Capt. George Hoffman, and her siblings Alan Weinberg and Eleanor Rubin.

Myrna was a well-known pillar in the Atlantic Wreck Diving community, helping her husband Captain George run the beloved Sea Lion dive boat business for many years. She was sharp, quick-witted and self educated; she loved to read and was a crossword and Jeopardy! whiz.

Myrna is survived by her devoted daughter Tobie Monello and husband Frank of Brielle with whom she lived for many years, and her son Steven Hoffman of Boulder, CO. Additionally, her 2 granddaughters Jennie Labriola and husband Ryan, and Allie Monello and her fiance Dominick Puccio, and her cherished great grandson Jack Labriola, all who lovingly referred to her as “Mome.”

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall, NJ. Committal will be private at the convenience of the family.
