Obituary for John J. "Jack" McLaughlin Jr.

John J. McLaughlin Jr., “Jack” to all who knew and loved him, passed away Friday, November 30, 2018 at Jersey Shore Medical Center with his daughter and other loved ones at his bedside.
Born in New York, NY, he served as a sergeant in the United States Army during World War II, and then proudly served as a Detective for the NYPD for over 20 years, followed by careers at KLM Airlines and Metropolitan Life.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Anne in 2004. Jack and Annie were proud New Yorkers and also enjoyed spending time at their beach home in Fairway Mews, Spring Lake, NJ. They loved to socialize and travel and were masters of both. He was a devout Catholic and member of St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake. Jack lived every moment of his life with great passion and put a smile on the face of everyone he touched. His wit, charm and style will be missed by all.
Jack is survived by his devoted daughter Suzie Aijala and husband Ainar of New York, NY and Mantoloking, NJ, his grandson Jamie Aijala, his sister Marjorie Mooney of Sparkill, NY, and his brother Bob McLaughlin and wife Irene of Fairway Mews, Spring Lake, NJ.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall, NJ 07719. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 10:30am at St. Catharine Church, 215 Essex Ave., Spring Lake, NJ 07762. Burial will be on Monday, December 10, 2018 in St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village, Queens, NY.
