Obituary for Albert Alimena Sr.

Albert Alimena, Sr., 87, of Manchester, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2019, at Ocean Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Alimena was born and raised in Red Hook, Brooklyn. He lived on Staten Island for 21 years, and Sayreville for 10 years, before moving to the Renaissance, Manchester, in 2001. He was a Stock Broker with Bear Sterns for many years before retiring. Albert was a devout Catholic and was instrumental in raising funds to build churches in impoverished countries. But above all else he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Mr. Alimena was predeceased by his beloved wife, Florence, in 2012, as well as by a brother, Ralph, and his sisters, Josephine and Mazie. He is survived by his sons, Albert, Jr. (Roxy Chavarria) and Matthew (Michele), and his daughter, Donna Farina (Chris O’Brien). Also surviving are Albert’s 9 grandchildren, Matthew, Nicole, Samantha, Stephen, Dominique, Lisa, Dana, Kristen, Alexa and 2 great-grandchildren, Juliana and Terrance, as well as his brothers, Tony, Matthew and Louis J. Alimena.
Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, on Thursday, January 17, 2019, from 2:30-4:30 and 7-9 PM. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catharine’s Church, 215 Essex Avenue, Spring Lake, on Friday, January 18, 2019, at 9 AM. Interment will follow at St. Anne Cemetery, Wall. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Albert’s beloved late wife Florence may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 789 Post Ave., Staten Island, NY 10310.
