Obituary for John J. Frost

John “Jack” Frost, 92 of Spring Lake Heights, NJ, entered into eternal rest on December 9, 2018. Jack was born on June 11, 1926 in his beloved Bayonne, where he lived most of his life before moving to the shore. Son of the late Josephine Harrigan and James Frost and brother of William. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Regina Donovan Frost. She was the love of his life. Father of Patricia and John Ruggirello of Monmouth Beach, Catherine “Kit” of Durango, CO, John and Sandra of Manalapan and Monmouth Beach, Regina of New Providence and Belmar, Marie DeMasi of Westfield, Mark and Diane of Freehold, and Mary Ellen and Alan Kitchen of Center Valley, PA. Mourning Pop Pop’s passing are 20 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, brother-in-law William Donovan and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Educated in Bayonne schools Jack joined the US Navy at age 17 and received a Purple Heart after being injured on D-Day, landing on Omaha Beach aboard LCT 305. He was a Bayonne firefighter and policeman and partner with his lifelong friend Ted Paliwoda at Willies Tavern. For twenty-two years he was project planner and purchasing manager for Schiavone Construction Company. Active in many civic associations he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, County Corkman, Bayonne Board of Education, Holy Name Society, Bayonne Parking Authority, Jack Foye Association and Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh in Belmar. He spent many fine hours with his dear friends at Hoppes, Crowleys and Cavanaughs in Bayonne and the Irish Club in Belmar. But above all he was devoted husband who loved being with his large family.
Visitation to celebrate Jack’s life will be Tuesday, from 4-8 PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 10:30 AM at St. Margaret’s Church, corner of 3rd and Ludlow Aves., Spring Lake. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans or Children’s Brain Tumor Project. Jack’s family would like to thank Dr. John Schmidt, the staff of Manor by the Sea and Jersey Shore University Medical Center for their loving concern and care.
