Obituary for John D. Fogarty

John D. Fogarty, 78, of Howell passed away peacefully on Monday, November 26, 2018 at his son’s home in Brick surrounded by his family. Mr. Fogarty retired in 1983 as Sergeant in the New York State Troopers after 23 dedicated years of service. During his career, he worked in K Troop in Brewster, NY and L Troop in Riverhead, Long Island. He proudly served his country in the US Army attending boot camp at Fort Dix, NJ. He was a graduate of Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY and John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. He was communicant of St. Veronica’s Church in Howell and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Fogarty was predeceased by his parents, William and Theresa Fogarty; and by his brother, Edward Fogarty. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Carole (Lichtenstein) Fogarty; son, Daniel Fogarty and his wife, Heather of Brick; daughter, Kim Holzapfel and her husband, Scott of Howell; brothers, Pat Fogarty and his wife, Mary Jean of Pleasantville, NY and Bill Fogarty and his wife, Sherry of Sussex, WI; sister, Margaret Clarke and her husband, Bob of Pleasantville, NY; and grandchildren, Sam Holzapfel, Jake Holzapfel, Jamie Fogarty and Sean Fogarty.
Visiting will be on Friday from 4-8pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A prayer service will be conducted at 10am on Saturday in the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, 169 W Main Street, Freehold.
