Obituary for Edward J. DeSevo Jr.

Edward Joseph DeSevo, Jr., 77, passed peacefully at home on Sunday November 25th with his beloved wife by his side. Edward was born and raised in Jersey City, summering in Spring Lake, before making Spring Lake his permanent home. He graduated in 1970 from the police academy and served the community of Spring Lake until 1999. After his retirement, he took a position at Monmouth Park Race Track, where he made many friends and quite a few bets. Eddie and Fran wintered in Jupiter, Florida. Any free time he had was spent with family and friends, working around their old farmhouse and helping anyone who needed a hand. He adored football, especially watching his beloved Giants.

Edward was predeceased by his parents, Eleanor and Edward, Sr. He is survived by his adoring wife Frances Galasetti DeSevo, his son Edward DeSevo III, his daughter Anna Rocheleau and her husband Stephen, his son Joseph Sluka and his wife Lynn, his daughter Staci Thornton and her husband Spencer. Grandchildren- Brian, Amanda, Noelle, Stevie, Candace, Hunter and Riley and great grandchildren Aurora and Juniper. His siblings- Barbara Rizzo and her husband Jacques, Joanne Fracalossi, Roberta DeSevo and Robert DeSevo and his wife Susan He also leaves behind many adoring nieces and nephews and brothers-in-law and sisters in-law. He will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched. He was a legend in his own time.

Viewing at O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall, on Wednesday from 4-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake, on Thursday at 10:30am. PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH.
