Harry was born in Elizabeth on July 14, 1930 and raised in Roselle Park. He lived in Westfield for 30 years before moving to Brielle 18 years ago. He was the son of the late Harry and Verna Dunn. After serving in the Army, he joined his father in the family business, Dunn’s Garage, in Roselle Park, which operated for 47 years. He was an accomplished mechanic, known for his love of classic cars. His extraordinary 1930 Cadillac Dual Cowl Phaeton received many awards over the years, and carried dignitaries, including N.Y. Governor Nelson Rockefeller, who rode in the car during the parade to open the lower level of the George Washington Bridge in 1963. Harry served as President of the Antique Automobile Club of America, N.J. Chapter, and was also active with the Antique Auto Club of Monmouth County, from which he received a Lifetime Achievement Award. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
Harry is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Joan (Momot), and their children, Gary Dunn, and his wife Thea, of Tucson, AZ, and Sharon O’Day, and her husband Ken, of Brielle. Also surviving are Harry’s grandchildren, Kira, Trevor and Vanessa Dunn, and Harrison O’Day. Harry was predeceased by his grandson, Conor O’Day.
