Catherine O’Flaherty, 86 of Tinton Falls died Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Care-One at Wall.
Born in Bayonne, she earned a Bachelor’s degree at Chestnut Hill College and a Master’s degree from Seton Hall University. She retired from East Orange Junior High School after 34 years as an English teacher.
Catherine was a Communicant of St. Denis Catholic Church, Manasquan where she served as a Eucharistic minister and lector for many years. She previously served in this capacity at St. Michael’s Parish, Union.
She was predeceased by her parents Martin and Catherine T. (nee Shanahan) O’Flaherty and her sister Mary T. Spollen.
Catherine is survived by her nieces Marie Spollen of Arvada, CO and Catherine Holt of St. Simon’s Island, GA and her nephews Martin Spollen of New York, NY and Michael Spollen of Alexandria, VA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 9:00am at St. Denis Roman Catholic Church, 90 Union Ave., Manasquan, NJ 08736. Burial will be in the O’Flaherty family plot in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall Twp.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Denis Church, Religious Education Program, 90 Union Ave., Manasquan, NJ 08736.
