Obituary for Vladimir S. "Val" Tjunin

Vladimir “Val” S. Tjunin, 73, of Howell died on Monday, November 5, 2018 at home. Mr. Tjunin worked for NJ Natural Gas in Wall Township for many years before retiring in 2012. He was a member of IBEW Local #400 in Wall. Val was very skilled at repairing electronics of all kinds. He loved animals and also enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing.
Born in Kaufbeuren, Germany, he immigrated to the United States in 1951 and settled in Brooklyn, NY before moving to the Ramtown Section of Howell 41 years ago.
He was predeceased by his parents, Sergei and Ella Tunin. Surviving are his loving wife of 40 years, Kathleen Tjunin; 2 sons, Brian R. Tunin and his wife, Eileen of Boca Raton, FL, and James C. Lowther and his wife, Jennifer of Brick; 2 sisters, Ludmilla Klinkowsky of Fort Pierce, FL and Mary Irene Smirnov of Queensland, Australia; 5 grandchildren, Sydney, Shane, Patrick, Kayla, Brooke; 1 niece, 2 nephews and many dear friends.
Visiting will be on Saturday from 3-6pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A prayer service will be held at 5:30pm in the funeral home. Final interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his memory to the Popcorn Park Zoo.
