Obituary for Barbara C. Dougherty
Barbara C. Dougherty, 81 of Wall Township passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018 with her beloved family at her side.
Born in Elizabeth, she had resided in Carteret for many years. In 1987 she moved to Scotch Plains where she resided until moving to Wall Township 3 years ago.
Barbara was retired from the Elizabethtown Gas Company where she worked as a Paralegal. She also worked for many years at Rinaldo and Rinaldo Associates. She had served as a Board member of the Rahway Day Care Center, as well as the Rahway YMCA, and had volunteered at the United Way. She was a voracious reader and made weekly trips to the Wall Public Library.
She was predeceased by her parents Alexander and Marie (nee Buchwald) Dougherty and her companion of over 30 years Christopher D. Armstrong Esq.
Surviving are her devoted children and their spouses; Keith and Denise Madorma of Monroe Twp., Kim DiPaolo and husband Tommy of Brick, Kelli Chitty and husband David of Sea Girt, and Kevin and Julie Gencsy of Hazlet, her 9 cherished grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 10, 2018 from 2:00pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 3:00pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall, NJ 07719
In lieu of flowers the family specifically requests donations be made in her memory to either the American Cancer Society or the Wall Township Public Library, 2700 Allaire Rd., Wall, NJ 07719. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home the day of the Memorial service.
