Donald P. Krebs, Sr., 87, of Wall passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. Born in Newark, Mr. Krebs grew up in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn and lived in Syracuse, Waldwick, Mahwah and Brielle before settling in Wall Township in 1985. After graduating from Seton Hall University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Mr. Krebs proudly served in the US Army from 1953-1955. He was President and owner of Schaefer and Krebs, a freight forwarding company started in New York City.
A passionate golfer, Mr. Krebs was a member of the Rockland and Montclair Country Clubs. His family boasts of his three holes-in-one and a double eagle. Through the twilight of his retirement, he was often sighted swinging his golf club and was quick to offer pointers on grip stance and takeaway. He loved entertaining his grandchildren at his farm in Wall and is fondly remembered as a funny and generous guy.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Jenny Krebs, grandson, Zachary Barbero, parents, James and Susan Krebs, and brother and sister-in-law, James and Ann “Nancy” Krebs. Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Joan Elizabeth Krebs; five children, Donald P. Krebs Jr. of Wall, Suzee E. Barbero and her husband, Ernesto, of Wall, Christopher J. Krebs and his wife, Linda, of Wall, James S. Krebs of Wall, and Peter J. Krebs and his wife, Amy, of Spring Lake Heights; and eight grandchildren: Andre, Ernie, Hagen, William, Emma, Sophie, Elinor, and Charlotte.
