John P "JP"  VanDerveer
John P. VanDerveer, 69, passed away at home on October 15, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. John was born in New Brunswick and raised in Franklin Township before moving to the Point Pleasant/Brick area where he resided for the past 25 years. John proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam from 1967-1973. He was employed by the Ocean County Utility Authority for 19 years and retired in 2008. John was predeceased by his parents John and Elizabeth VanDerveer. Surviving are John’s loving wife of 47 years, Linda (Dunham); daughter, Cheryl Meyer and her husband Doug of Brick; grandchildren, John and Ben; brothers, Conrad VanDerveer of Toms River, Thomas VanDerveer and his wife Helen of Luray, Virginia, as well as several cherished nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will take place on Monday, October 22, 2018 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at O’Brien Funeral Home, Brick. Interment will take place on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 11 AM at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Cemetery, Wrightstown. Family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinitas Health Foundation Cancer Care, P.O. Box 259 Elizabeth N.J. 07207.
