John Patrick Davenport, 79, passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick.
Jack was born and raised in Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York. He started working for Met Life at the age of 17, and his career with the company lasted 41 years. In 1963, Jack married the love of his life and began proudly serving in the United States Army. He remained in Brooklyn for most of his life and raised his family there.
He moved to New Jersey in 1985 and spent his final years at the Four Seasons in Lakewood. Jack loved taking trips to Atlantic City, playing cards and spending time with his beloved family. He was a member of the Ancient Order of The Hibernians of Brooklyn, NY. He was also a member of the Four Seasons Irish American Club, where he served as both Vice President and President during his tenure.
Jack was predeceased by his parents James and Margaret Davenport; brothers James, Bernard and William Davenport; and son William (Billy) Davenport in 2014.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Anne (McArdle) Davenport; children Anne-Margaret Eiring, her daughters Caitlin, Kelly and Beth-Anne of Sayreville, Thomas Davenport, his wife Lorraine and their daughter Charlee of Hazlet, Eileen Davenport, her husband Kevin Martyn and their children Katherine and Jack of Sayreville; beloved brother Joe Davenport and his husband Don Sweeney, cherished sister and brother-in-law Cathy and Bobby Dunne and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
A memorial visitation will take place on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9PM at O’Brien Funeral Home, Brick. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 10:00 AM St. Dominic’s R.C. Church in Brick.
