Gregory Hunter  Rost
Gregory Hunter Rost, 28, passed away on July, 15, 2018 at his home in Baltimore, Maryland. He was born in Long Branch and resided in Brick until moving to Baltimore in 2012.
Gregory attended St. Dominic School followed by Monsignor Donovan High School, graduating in 2008. He obtained a Bachelor Degree from Iona College in 2012 and his Master’s Degree in Cyber Security from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 2014.
Gregory started his employment with the Department of Defense in 2007. His current position was Cyber Security Lead, SEC Technical Management Group.
He was a talented artist, musician and avid snowboarder. Gregory was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity and earned a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. He enjoyed playing in the Bocce Ball and Corn Hole recreation leagues with his many friends in Maryland.
Gregory is survived by his loving parents, Ernest and Leah Murphy Rost of Brick; and his loving brother, William Rost and William's girlfriend Kelly of Silver Spring, MD. He was predeceased by his grandparents, William Murphy and Emma and Walter Schwaner. Gregory is also survived by his grandmother, Barbara Murphy of Canaan, CT; Aunts and Uncles, Robert Rost of Orlando, FL, Sally Rost of South Salem, NY, Chris Murphy and his wife Tamara of Orlando, FL, Maureen Morley and her husband, Thomas of Suffern, NY, Eileen Ehlers and her husband, Richard of Olathe, KS, and William Murphy and his wife, Mary of Amenia, NY; as well as many loving cousins and friends.
Gregory was a kind hearted person, always with a smile on his face, and willing to help all those who needed it. He touched the lives of so many people. His passing leaves such a void in our hearts. He will be dearly missed.
A Funeral Mass will be offered 10am on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at St. Dominic’s RC Church, Brick. Entombment will follow at St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in his name to the St. Dominic’s School Art Program, 250 Old Squan Road, Brick NJ 08724
