Obituary for James "Jim" O'Brien

James "Jim"  O'Brien
James F. O’Brien, age 71, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 7, 2018 in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Born in Brooklyn, “Jim” was raised in Woodside, Queens and resided in Point Pleasant, NJ for the past 15 years, as well as spending time at his residence in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Jim proudly served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was a retired Police Lieutenant of the New York City Police Department.

Jim’s greatest joy was spending time with family and friends at the Jersey Shore and Florida. He was a gifted story teller who possessed true Irish wit and charm. He had the ability to make you smile and his sparkling sense of humor brought laughter to all who knew him. He was also a member of the NYPD Emerald Society as well as several other police organizations and fishing clubs.
He was predeceased by his three siblings.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 24 years, Joann Penrose-O’Brien; his sons, Jim O’Brien and his wife Ann, Christopher O’Brien and Michael O’Brien and his wife Rachel; his brother Bill O’Brien and his two grandsons, Christopher and Zachary.
A Memorial Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 27 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Martha’s RC Church, Point Pleasant, NJ.
