Mary Jane (nee Coyne) Clayton, 86, of Wall Township passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune with her family at her bedside.

Mary Jane was born in Red Bank, and graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School. She lived in the Glendola section of Wall Township for 24 years, where she raised her three sons. Upon the passing of her husband, she lived in Lions Head South, Brick, for 13 years before moving back to Wall in 2000.

She was a devout Catholic and was a Communicant of St. Catharine and St. Margaret Parish, Spring Lake. She volunteered with the Bereavement Ministry of the Parish.

Mrs. Clayton was a member of the Wall Township County Committee and had volunteered for Monmouth County Meals on Wheels. In her free time, she loved to cook and sew, but most important in her life was the devotion to her husband, sons and grandchildren.

Mary Jane was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband George J. Clayton in 1998, and her son Thomas J. Clayton in 1996.

She is survived by her devoted sons Michael J. Clayton and Edward J. Clayton and his wife Wendy, all of Wall Township and her 4 grandchildren Kelsey Clayton, Jake Clayton, Rachel Groves and her husband William, and Katelyn Clayton, her nephews Walton Kingsbery, Clayton Kingsbery, Peter Kingsbery and their families and many longtime friends.

Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 10:30am at St. Catharine’s RC Church, 215 Essex Ave., Spring Lake. Burial will be in St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Sea Girt.
