John Edward  Darke
John Edward Darke passed away on January 11, 2018 in Boulder, CO after a brief hospitalization. His brother Eugene and friends, his Boulder “Family”, were at his bedside. John has gone on to join his beloved wife Sherri (Dinterman) and their devoted golden retriever, Charlie.

Born August 20, 1958 in Newark, NJ, John moved as a child to Fanwood, NJ attending Scotch Plains/Fanwood schools. After graduating high school, John attended Kean University earning a BS in Mechanical Contracting. After graduation, John joined his brother Eugene to help run Barney’s Bargain Store, Hillside, NJ. He then joined the Carpenters’ Union, became a Journeyman and established himself as a Master Carpenter.

In 2003 John and Sherri moved to Boulder, CO acquiring a close-knit group of friends who became their second family. John continued to work as a Master Carpenter on custom homes. On September 26, 2009 John and Sherri were married on Flagstaff Mountain, Boulder, his parents and friends on hand. That November in New Jersey, his family and friends celebrated a wedding reception and second ceremony presided over by his uncle Judge James Walsh.

Handsome, talented, loving and loyal, loving John enjoyed hiking and the outdoors. He was passionate about all types of music, fond of fishing and loved riding motorcycles.

John is survived by his parents, Gloria and Eugene Darke Sr.; his sister Linda and husband Don Swaynos; his brother Eugene and wife Joanna; his sister Lisa and husband Steve Bakanas; nieces and nephews Donald and Victoria Swaynos; Rebecca and Brendan Darke; and Neal, Ian and Luke Bakanas; uncles James Walsh and George “Bud” Jorgensen and many cousins.

Words cannot express how much John will be missed by family and friends in New Jersey and Colorado.

Visitation will be held at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd, Brick, NJ 08724 on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 1:00pm-3:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm with a Memorial Service being held at 7:30 p.m. Cremation is private.
