Obituary for David William Simpson
David W. Simpson, 64, of Lakewood, NJ, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017, in the loving company of his family. Born in East Orange, David grew up in Raritan and Somerville, NJ before moving to Ann Arbor, MI where he lived and worked for nearly 30 years before returning to the Jersey shore.
Dave worked in a variety of fields from construction and plumbing to various roles in the pub/restaurant business over his life. Those who had the good fortune to know Dave would all agree that he was a great friend! His family would echo the same, especially his Dad, Bill, with whom he had lived for the last four years since his mother, Dotty’s passing.
Dave loved all sports, however golf was his passion. Any free time he had would be spent on the golf course where he was truly the happiest. These last years were filled with tee times, playing with his Dad and other friends in the shore area.
He leaves behind his father, Bill, and brothers, Kevin and Mark, and their respective families among many other heartbroken people including a favorite Aunt and various other nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and neighbors. He will be truly missed!
A memorial service is being planned for October, date forthcoming. Donations may be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Foundation, by mail to: 501 St. Jude Place in Memphis, TN 38105, online at: www.stjude.org, or, via phone at: 800-805-5856.
